I’m kinda tricky. I’m totally into a good deception. For instance, I just adore hiding one shoe. Prank phone call is my long middle name (doesn’t fit on a business card very well). OK, these aren’t true. What am I, 9?

But if I could trick my body into losing weight, well then I’m all for that. Luckily, I’ve discovered these three quick ways to get skinny being sneaky…

  1. If you serve three veggies at dinner instead of one, you’ll actually eat more of them.  More choices means more sampling. And you couldn’t do better than to fill up on veggies. Sneaky and smart. Of course don’t serve them with butter and sauces. That would defeat the point. Not smart. Try lemon juice and seasonings (low sat though).
  2. Skinny leads to skinny. Using a tall glass instead of a short one will help you lower your intake of juice soda, wine, any liquid calories. You’ll drink 25-30% less. Visual cues can trick us into consuming more or less. Studies have shown that even experienced bartenders poured more into a short, wide glass. Maybe that’s why the mojitos go into tall thin glasses. Cheap bastards.
  3. Think small plates, and I don’t mean tapas. Although I guess that could be an example. Choose a 10″ lunch plate instead of a 12″ dinner plate to automatically eat less. Research has found that people served more and ate more food with larger dishes. Shrink your plate or bowl and eventually you’ll do a little shrinking yourself.
