I’m never wearing the right shoes. Let me rephrase that. I’m always wearing the right shoes (read: style in spades), but never the “right” shoes (read: comfy enough for extended play).
I can’t tell you how many “we can’t because I’m not wearing the right shoes” impromptu park trips I’ve pushed off, much to my daughter’s chagrin. Let’s face it. A fashionista rarely escapes stylish shoe issues.
You’ve seen my fascination with Fast Flats. And many of you have also seen me drag them out of my purse. Coming on the heels of a similar origami-esque shoe by CitySlips (foldable flats), FUNK-tional Footwear recently launched CityFlips—$20 flip flops that you can fold, tote, and pull out when your pups are barking (or when an on-the-spot beach trip just got added to your lunch-with-the-ladies afternoon).
I used to think that folding flipflops was an impossibility because of the rigid sole. But CitySlips have a split sole that bends in half. I’m not sure of the wear-and-tear sturdiness of the bottom, since I can see these snapping/ripping in half eventually. But until that day, consider me sold. Or consider them sold. One pair for my purse. One pair for the car glove compartment, just in case.
The CityFlips are available in an array of colorful and vibrant prints such as leopard, zebra, and a black/pink stripe. The CityFlips travel pouch unzips into a full-size tote bag to carry your heels. Like Fast Flats’ cheesy gold pocket purse, this attempts to be fashionable, but it’s more of a function vs. form. The function (toting around your heels) outweighs the beauty of the form (the way the tote unzips leaves it with a strange form).
So now I have the “right” summer shoes. Or at least, the right shoes are hidden in my purse for just the “right” moment.
