Easy Peasy is thrilled to have a guest post by Interior Designer Julieann Covino, owner of Boston-based Jace Interiors. Here are some of her quick and easy ways to bring color into your home.
This is such a fun topic and with the last few months of winter, I think we could all use some fresh coloring in our homes.
Have you ever just had “one of those days”? When I do, I immediately pull out my bistro bud vases from NapaStyle (see above) and scatter them through out the house. I buy a small bunch of Gerber daisies from the grocery store and add one to each vase. Fresh flowers are the quickest pick me up and since these are just small vases they can easily be set in the bathroom, nightstand or desk. The idea is to place them where you will constantly see them!
The bedroom is usually the first place I focus on when needing to brighten up my days! The Woodland Duvet from Pottery Barn creates the perfect scene for a spring time reinvention. With its bright coloring and crisp white background, it’s sure to rejuvenate the bedroom. A quick easy tip is to just put the duvet straight over your existing comforter!
Williams Sonoma Home Solid Cashmere Throws are a soft addition of color for the end of the bed or to freshen up the sofa. It does double duty (something I LOVE) as a pop of color and warmth, until we can open the windows. Lemon Drop, Sprig, Coral and Hot Pink are just a few of the bright colors that will add energy and brightness to your space.
For the last few years I have been in the habit of changing out my accent pillows on my sofa from winter to summer. This year I might just have to start a bit earlier with the happy summer colored pillows. This one from Susan Sargent is so bright and cheery it would fit into any color scheme. As with the duvet covers I purchase the pillow cover and place it directly over my current accent pillows. This way it’s easier to store just the winter covers and not the entire pillow.
Having fun with accent colors is the perfect way to step out of your comfort color zone. There’s no harm in adding a bit of HOT pink or lemony yellow to an all brown or blue room. It also gives the feeling of newness, which will immediately brighten your day!
