Using Fabric Softener to Loosen Wallpaper

September 8th, 2011

It’s amazing what you can learn whilst bitching on Facebook.

The other day I was complaining about something house related (shocker), when a friend from high school continued my rant with one of his own about something he was doing with his home reno. The dreaded wallpaper rip off. Another friend retorted with the following tip from a contractor…

Pour fabric softener into a spray bottle and spray it onto the wall covered in wallpaper. Wait five minutes, then the offending wallpaper will just rip off in big sheets.

Now that’s probably about the only time I will hear guys talking about the beauty of a fabric softener.

It helps a good bit if you use one of those scoring tools first, though. But, yeah, fabric softener is better even than the stuff they make especially for removing wallpaper.
