Adopt an Olive Tree for Valentine’s Day

February 3rd, 2011

So what are you getting your sweetie on V-Day? Hold on. Are you kidding me? More chocolate? People, put down the Rocher and Godiva…OK, have a piece first…I’ll wait…OK, have two…stop eating all the damn chocolate and pay attention. I have a fantastic gift idea (especially for the foodie in your life). A tree. Let me explain…

I just discovered that Tre Olive offers annual “adoptions” of trees in their Italian olive grove in Calabria (hey, mom, that’s the home of Strega Nona). This place is gorgeous and has been run by the same capable family for generations.

With the adoption of a tree for a year (for $110), olive oil lovers receive:

  • A customized hard-cover display holder with a certificate of adoption beautifully gift wrapped.
  • An informational brochure and welcome letter
  • A photo of the adopted tree, with all its graceful beauty and naturally imperfect glory
  • Three liters of extra virgin olive oil from the adopted tree will arrive in the spring

So go ahead, tell someone Olive You.

Okay. You talked me into being a nana to an olive tree, especially when I get olive oil in the spring.
