Fab Friday – Scott-Vincent Borba’s At-home Chocolate Face Mask

January 14th, 2011

For some reason there’s a ton of chocolate in our house. Can’t figure out where it came from. There are chips, cocoa powder, cookies, muffin mix. Huh?

I interviewed Celebrity Esthetician Scott-Vincent Borba last year on correlating beautiful skin with the food we eat. Now he has a new skin care guidebook, Skintervention: The Personalized Solution for Healthier, Younger, and Flawless-Looking Skin, and he told me what to do with some of that syrup. Put it around my mouth, not in it. Harumph.

Here’s his recipe for a fabulous Clarifying Chocolate Mask:

  • Simply stir together ¾ cup of lukewarm water, 1 tbsp of honey, 1 tbsp of chocolate syrup and 1 cup of instant oatmeal.  Apply the mixture to the face using an upward motion and let dry for 15 minutes.  Lightly scrub off with lukewarm water for a clarifying skin treat.  As the oatmeal soaks up excess oils and gently exfoliates, the honey refines pores and kills surface bacteria and the chocolate polyphenols help with fine lines and wrinkles while soothing the sense.  Delicious!

Scott also has created these new chocolate slimming chews that help control appetite. Hmmm…might need some of those around the chocolate chips.

I wonder if you tried this mask. I noticed in his book that he never explains what to do after you apply the masks/facials. Any insight?
