Tuesday Newsday – Why Are You So Tired?

November 9th, 2010

We just got back from a much-needed couples’ getaway. Yes, that means couple. Not trio. Child stayed home with her grandparents (a big thank you to Mema and Pepa).

Why? Because my husband and I…well…we’re tired. Why are we tired? I’ll give you a few reasons why…
  1. Our three-year-old woke up recently at 4am to tell me that she was bored.
  2. My lists of things to do have lists.
  3. Our puppy seems to like to cuddle in the middle of the night now that it’s getting chilly. I woke up one night last week with numb feet.
  4. I keep having a dream of going to dinner with friends and no one can figure out the check. How boring a dream is that?

WebMd has a few more reasons why we’re fatigued…from too much coffee to not enough working out. Any of these ring a bell?…

Click here for a WebMd slideshow of reasons for fatigue.

Are you sleepy most of the time? What keeps you up?

I also suffer from cold feet. And cold arms, back and legs. My dog keeps managing to pull the entire down comforter off of me. Otherwise, I think I spend too much time in front of a computer screen, which can effect your sleep patterns, too.

OMG…you have a DOG too? Like another child. You are tired because you are a parent. What i hear from the older/wisers is that we will be tired until kids are age 8 at which point they and you will sleep (true, my daughter just turned 8 and is miraculously sleeping, all night in her bed until 7:30a) Enjoy until about age 16 1/2 when they start to drive. Then it’s all down hill from there. Or maybe it’s just a case of you play, you pay.
