Our First Vacation…Without…the…BABY

November 5th, 2010

OK, I’ve been taking a little time off. Here’s the reason…

Today is my birthday, and my parents have been nice enough to come to our house and watch our daughter tomorrow.

So hubby and I are going here.

For three days.

Without her.

I know, I know. She’s three and a half, Cheryl. Leaving her should be easy peasy. But it’s not. I find myself being a freaky weirdo, with panicky thoughts of potential home invasions (did I give my parents the alarm codes?), sleeping problems (what if she can’t find Pink Puppy), and not to mention worrying that two 65-year-olds are no match for a crazy active preschooler hopped up on Halloween candy (yes, we’re still plodding through our loot). What if she wears them out?

I do have to admit, though once I get through the nerves, the thought of rekindling a romance with my husband…definitely needed, definitely looking forward to it.

Would love to hear your thoughts on this…

When did you first leave your child to go on a vacation with your spouse? Were you nervous? Any tips for me on how to relax?

  1. i’m late on my comment but i hope you had a FANTASTIC time! That looks awesome! (and really, anywhere without kids sounds great to me these days!) :)

Workout Mommy, you are so sweet. We had a blast. holding hands, drinking coffee while antiquing for hours, walking through the White Mountains. :)

Happy belated birthday! What a gorgeous place. So happy to read you had a good time. My son’s 14-months and we haven’t been away alone yet. I have all those same issues! But it was soooo worth it, wasn’t it? We have to plan something soon.
