And so it begins: the holiday season of eating. Typically, it starts on Halloween for me, but somehow I managed to not gain a dress size from too many Reese’s this year. So I’m pushing this food-fest back a bit on the calendar. That being said, we push onward and upward to bigger and better meals. Meals with big birds followed by big bursting waistbands.
The first of which is today—Turkey Day.
I’ll be with my family, my biggest reason for giving thanks this year—mom, dad, husband Keith and our little girl. I’ll make my usual green bean casserole (French’s on top, of course) as well as a new discovery, a baked macaroni and cheese made with butternut squash. Mom will make eight appetizers, three sides, a 28-lb. turkey, and two desserts. There are four of us. Not sure what’s going on, but who am I to argue the copious leftovers, perfect for curried turkey soup, turkey cranberry enchiladas and nacho turkey casserole. Trust me, people. In my house, we go above and beyond turkey sandwiches the week after Thanksgiving.
I really have nothing interesting to say today on Easy Peasy other than…Be. Thankful. For everything that brought you to were you are today. For everything you have right now. Family, friends, a home, a job, a pet, a nice pair of heels. Everything. Because without those things in our lives, we are nothing. OK, we might be something without the shoes, but you get the (stiletto) point.
I’m also thankful to you, for letting me bug you four times a week with things that hopefully make your life a little easier, or at the very least, a little more fun.
What are you thankful for?
