2 Minute Arms

July 29th, 2010

If there’s one thing I’ve noticed during these nasty 90-plus degree heat waves we’ve been having (other than I would be better suited living in North Dakota), is how much I adore sundresses.

People wonder why I’m usually wearing a dress. I mean, it’s so….dressy. Who has the time to be dressy?

Think about it. Put a dress on. You’re dressed. No coordinating tops and bottoms. They’re the easiest things in the world to wear.

Easy, that is, if you have nice arms.

Here’s another installment for my Two-Minute Exercise series with Jessica Cummings, Certified Trainer at One2One Bodyscapes. If you have only two minutes today, do the bench dip. It works your triceps, biceps and shoulders, so you can have that sleeveless sundress option that would make Michelle Obama proud.

Bench Dips

How to:

1.  Sit on bench/chair, hands grasping the front edge.

2.  Bring body forward off of bench and lower to floor, elbows bending behind at a 90 degree angle. Keep the arms close to the body to avoid strain on the joint.

3.  Push off from triceps until arms are straight. Legs straight or bent with weight on heels.

4.  Do 3 sets of 10-15 repetitions.

I completely agree! I LIVE in sundresses all summer. So easy and I can totally hide my gut :)
